BTT is the token of BitTorrent, the file-sharing protocol from 2001 that Tron acquired in 2018, used to pay for faster downloads and to reward users who keep seeding files. It is one of the few crypto tokens attached to software with a genuinely large pre-existing user base, though how much of that base actually touches the token remains modest. BTT is attached to BitTorrent, genuinely one of the most widely used file-sharing protocols ever built, which was acquired and given a token intended to pay for faster peer bandwidth. The gap between the protocol's real user base and the token's actual on-chain usage is the thing to understand: a large legacy user base does not automatically translate into demand for a token layered on top of it. Its very low unit price reflects an extremely large supply. On this map it is a small-cap whose price moves with sentiment rather than with file-sharing activity.
