About Mina Protocol

Mina keeps its entire blockchain at roughly 22 kilobytes — small enough to verify on a phone — by replacing the history with a recursive zero-knowledge proof that the whole chain was valid. Instead of every node storing years of blocks, each new proof attests to the one before it, which is a genuinely different answer to blockchain bloat than sharding or pruning. Mina's distinguishing claim is size: instead of growing without limit, the chain is compressed to a fixed-size cryptographic proof that any device can verify, so participation does not require downloading a large history. That makes trust-minimised verification possible in a browser or on a phone, and it is the basis for its zero-knowledge application tooling. The trade-off is that heavy proving work happens off-chain. On a market map MINA is a small-cap Layer 1 whose moves have tracked the wider zero-knowledge and privacy-adjacent narrative more than its own usage.

Quick answers
How can a blockchain stay a fixed size?

Mina replaces the full history with a recursive zero-knowledge proof that attests to it. Verifying that proof is enough to trust the current state, so no participant needs the whole chain.

What is a zkApp?

An application whose logic is proven off-chain with a zero-knowledge proof and verified on-chain, which keeps inputs private while still allowing the result to be checked.

What is MINA used for?

It pays transaction fees, is staked to secure the network, and rewards the participants who produce the proofs the chain depends on.

Does a small market cap mean small percentage moves?

Usually the opposite. Smaller assets have thinner liquidity, so they tend to show larger percentage swings — small bubbles with strong colour on the map.

Market cap decides how big a bubble is drawn, so rank is what places MINA on the map relative to the rest of its sector.
