About Bitcoin Cash

Bitcoin Cash split from Bitcoin in a 2017 hard fork over a disagreement about how to scale the network, opting for larger block sizes to keep transaction fees low and enable Bitcoin's original vision as peer-to-peer electronic cash. It shares Bitcoin's proof-of-work security model and fixed 21 million supply, but prioritizes everyday payments over acting purely as a store of value. Bitcoin Cash came out of a long-running disagreement about how Bitcoin should scale: its supporters wanted larger blocks so that on-chain transactions stay cheap, rather than moving activity to secondary layers. It kept proof of work and the same supply cap, and raised block size instead. Whether that was the right trade-off is still argued, and it is the central thing to understand about the asset. On this map BCH is a large, long-established coin whose moves generally follow Bitcoin's direction with a wider amplitude, since it is smaller and less liquid.

Quick answers
Why does Bitcoin Cash exist?

It forked from Bitcoin in 2017 over how to scale. Its supporters favoured larger blocks to keep on-chain fees low, rather than routing activity through secondary layers.

Does BCH have the same supply cap as Bitcoin?

Yes, it inherited the same maximum supply and halving schedule from the shared history before the fork.

Does BCH move with BTC?

Broadly yes, but with larger percentage swings in both directions because it is smaller and less liquid. On a bubble map that often means a stronger colour than BTC on the same day.

Is Bitcoin Cash the same as Bitcoin SV?

No. Bitcoin SV split from Bitcoin Cash in a later disagreement. They are separate chains with separate tickers and separate markets, both tracked individually here.
